“Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.”

The quote from Albert Einstein reminds us that we are particularly vulnerable to populism and manipulation. It is of high importance to me as it shows that despite almost unlimited access to information and knowledge, we still find it very difficult to understand reality in its full complexity. This is used by populists who achieve their political goals through intentional manipulation of messages.

My mission as a lecturer is to equip students with knowledge of the various psychological and sociological processes which constitute the foundations of politics and international relations, as well as to teach them how to skilfully apply theoretical paradigms in the process of empirical studies.

Theoretical paradigms are of great importance as they offer cognitive and conceptual frameworks, which provide order and structure to our thinking about reality. Their appropriate application protects against bias and prejudices and, therefore, against drawing groundless research conclusions.

In addition, I also carry out studies on theories of international relations and security, with special attention to Polish, American and Russian foreign policies. My recent research concerned the so-called Trump effect on Russian foreign policy and security challenges in the Central Europe region connected with Russian expansionism.

At the Institute of Political Science I run classes on contemporary history, terrorism, cybersecurity and energy security. As skillful collection and analysis of data constitute the key element of the research success, students may expect practical tasks during my classes.
