“Sociological Studies give not only a profession, but they also develop minds capable of creative analysis of complex social problems and designing activities triggering desired changes.”

Have you ever thought about strategies used by people to adopt to the dynamically changing environment? Or how do changes in the world of work affect our important decisions and social and political awareness?

I am a sociologist and for almost 20 years have been dealing with studying biographical experiences of working people, their identity, professional careers and subjectivity. I analyse social conditions of changes in the labour market as well as issues of conflicts and social dialogue in an increasingly multicultural and diversified world.

These topics are part of studies in the Intercultural Mediation specialisation offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Institute of Sociology. Students learn to analyse social and cultural changes, to diagnose new social problems – also on the global scale, and to solve them with the use of expertise from the scope of social sciences.

The best thing in my work with students is carrying out discussions in small and culturally diversified groups on the basis of set texts and students’ experiences. Discussions during classes often contribute to the formulation of research questions, which students explore within their own research.
