“The analysis of social, political and economic phenomena requires an understanding of important cultural conditions and historical memory. We are people with our own history and we cannot ignore this fact.”

Designing effective business, political and peace-building activities in the international arena requires a thorough understanding of specific cultural and historical conditions in a given region. Global Studies is the field of studies which will provide you with the tools and competencies necessary for the analysis of these factors.

I specialise in studies on ethnic policy, international and national security in the context of human security, peace-building issues and the role of the cultural factor in international relations. I am particularly interested in political and cultural changes occurring in the Western Balkans.

In one of my recent articles, I analysed the European Union’s role in peace efforts in Kosovo. In another article, I focused on the impact of religious institutions on the reconciliation process after the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995. I carry out research concerning the analysis of discourse on conflicts, ethnic policies and peace-building activities.

In the subject of Global Studies, I run the following courses: “Ethnic Problems and Conflicts”, “The Balkans in the International Relations”, “International Cultural Relations” and “Human Security”.

The best thing about my work with students is the national and ethnic diversity of groups. Due to this, we may practise inter-cultural competencies and develop cultural sensitivity indispensable to move around in the globalised world. I hold individual consultations for students and support them in their research work.

If you want to learn more about my research interests, I recommend the following articles:
